you need a minute to breathe and to sew up the seams—

who. General Iroh ([personal profile] battleships) and Asami Sato ([personal profile] renegade_daughter)
summary. Iroh/Asami. Iroh wants to invest in Future Industries aircraft, but first the company needs to earn the trust of the Fire Nation.

The United Forces had lost a lot in the Battle for Republic City, and all of it on Iroh's watch. While the city rejoiced in their victory, Iroh spent most of his time after the war filling out paperwork. Many documents bore the weight of his men's lives, so it wasn't so boring as it was taxing. The same could be said of accounting for the ships that had been destroyed by Future Industries arms and biplanes. The conflict might have been short, but it was both tragic and expensive.

Naturally, when it was time to restock, Iroh was apprehensive about pitching the idea of adding Future Industries aircraft to their battle line. Future Industries had become the enemy under the wrong hands, but under the right chief executive officer they were a strong asset to their ally, Republic City. He didn't need to spend more time than he did fighting alongside Asami Sato to know she wasn't going to lead that company astray like her father did. Unfortunately, his advisors didn't see it that way, and neither did the Fire Nation's citizens when news got out that Iroh wanted this for them. Even not to be supplied, but to learn the craft could have been more valuable than the nation imagined, but the name of Future Industries was too sullied.

Iroh was honest about departing from the Fire Nation for a few days to visit Republic City, and he was openly determined to earn their trust on behalf of Future Industries. It was going to be a long road, but he was certain it could be done. First, he was going to get to know Asami personally and see if she was even interested in marketing Future Industries airships and biplanes; then, he wanted to bring her back with him to the Fire Nation and show everyone that beneath the pretty face was an honorable businesswoman.

Their first meeting was set to be at his great-uncle's favorite teashop. It was located in a part of town that wasn't currently undergoing reconstruction, and he just liked the place. Without much of a break after docking, Iroh made his way straight to the teashop and grabbed them a table.
