and you say the night just got too cold—
who. Mai (
killjoy) and Mako (
riffraff)
summary. The couple agrees to house sit for Mako's impossibly pretty ex-girlfriend, Asami.
[ Mai is well aware of Mako's past partners, namely the Avatar and The One With The Car(s). It doesn't take her too long to figure out whose house she's walking into with just a glance at the driveway. Also, it's a little more like a manor, but details. Said ex-girlfriend is treating her house workers to a week-long vacation out of the country, and Mako and Mai have been given the task of making sure the woodwork doesn't spontaneously combust or something. Mai is pretty sure the house runs more of a risk of setting fire by allowing a firebender inside her home, but again, details.
Maybe she isn't being fair to Asami. She's sure the tall, slender woman with the model face and perfect hair is a perfectly nice, intelligent woman, but Mai can't get past the fact that Mako was probably doing her at some point. Furthermore, she suspects Mako only volunteered their services out of guilt from an incident he's never really quite described. Whether or not that's the case (it could just plainly be for the wad of cash at the end of it for all that she knows), she becomes morbidly curious as to what happened while they're given a tour of the tasks they're meant to carry out.
When the tour is all over and Mai has forgotten half the things they're meant to be looking after, Asami leaves with her workforce, and Mai glances at Mako. ]
I want to make out on her couch.

late comment, watched a few eps
That was awkward.
Between Mai and Asami, Mako had no idea where to hold his gaze, so he spent most of the time looking off into the distance, appearing to busy himself. He acknowledged Asami with the occasional smile and remark, keeping the teasing to a minimum for Mai's sake. He didn't want her to feel ignored by him, either, though, which made for a compromising situation. Mai wasn't normally the jealous type, but he felt as though her cold, narrowed gaze was on him every time him and Asami interacted. It might have been paranoia, but he couldn't be too safe.
Once Asami left, he sighed, trudging back towards Mai who was lounging around in the foyer. He shoots her a look caught between a glare and wide-eyed incredulity.]
Mai.

But she knows that look means no, so she rolls her eyes and mutters something about there being too many couches to choose from anyway. It's true. She grew up in a big house, too, and there are always too many damn couches. EVERYWHERE.
With that thought, she drags her feet towards the kitchen because at least there's only one of those, except for the one that's in the basement. She sighs like a dramatic teenager. ]
Fine, I'll just be bored in the kitchen since you want that so badly.
